Downs orange rolling

Crowds gather at Pascombe Pit on Dunstable Downs for the annual orange rolling ceremony on Good Friday. The traditional event was revived in the 1950s and eventually attracted large numbers of people who scrambled for the free fruit being rolled (or hurled) down the steep slope. The tradition was abandoned after worries that someone would be injured.
