The Queen's Head, in what was once St Mary's Street, was one of many buildings demolished in 1975 when the area behind the Methodist Church was cleared to make way for a supermarket and other shops, plus a large car park. The supermarket, Sainsbury's, has since moved to Boscombe Road and the premises are now occupied by Wilkinson's.
