Edwin Aldous was a Dunstable artist of unusual talent. He had the extraordinary ability to paint pictures the wrong way round, hence his fame as "the upside-down artist". Television was fascinated by his skill and he was often featured on Children's Newsreel. In the cinema he appeared in a short film with the comedian Richard Hearne - Mr Pastry - who stood on his head to view Mr Aldous's work in progress.
